As a young girl, Ana Bucik might have dreamed of becoming a hairdresser, but after she stepped into her first pair of skis under the watchful gaze of her father, who conveniently was also an avid skier and President of the local ski club, she changed paths and became one of the best Slovenian skiers. In January 2010, at the age of 16, she made her World Cup debut in the giant slalom race taking place in the Slovenian resort of Maribor. She went on to claim her first podium finish in January 2018 in the super combined race in Lenzerheide, Switzerland. Before her podium-worthy race, her best result had been a seventh place in slalom, on the very same slope where she had her World Cup debut. She studies mathematics and physics at the Faculty of Education, while also competing at the highest level in slalom, giant slalom, and combined.
